How is life path number compatibility calculated?
Life path number compatibility compares two numbers taken from two birthdays. For each date the year, the month and the day are each added digit by digit until one digit is left, then the three results are added and reduced again. 11, 22 and 33 are kept as master numbers at every step, so January 7, 2001 gives 3 + 1 + 7 = 11. If you already know your number, pick it instead; your birthday stays in your browser and only the two numbers go into the result link.
The match uses a rule we designed ourselves. The nine digits are split into three families: mind (1, 5, 7), ground (2, 4, 8) and heart (3, 6, 9). Two different numbers from the same family score highest, around 90. Mind with heart is a spark (about 74), the same root number twice a mirror (about 76), ground with heart steady (about 70), and mind with ground the biggest stretch (about 58). A small nudge of −2, 0 or +2 from the two numbers keeps pairs apart. Master numbers are scored through their root: 11 as 2, 22 as 4, 33 as 6.
Numerology is a tradition, not a science, and no study backs these scores. Treat the result as a conversation starter. Swapping the two people gives the same answer.
Frequently asked questions
Is life path number compatibility scientific?
No. Numerology has no scientific evidence behind it, and the match table here is our own design — three families of numbers with fixed points — not a copy of any numerologist's chart. It is a playful way to compare two birthdays, and the same pair always gets the same score.
How do I calculate my life path number?
Reduce the year, the month and the day of your birthday to one digit each, keeping 11, 22 and 33, then add the three and reduce again. For example, July 4, 1990: 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 19 → 10 → 1, July is 7, the 4th is 4, and 1 + 7 + 4 = 12 → 3.
Which life path numbers are the most common?
Counting every date from 1950 to 2009, the numbers 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 9 each come up about 11.1% of the time. Life path 2 is only 4.6%, because many dates that would reduce to 2 add up to master number 11 first (6.5%). The rarest is 33 at 0.9%.
