Slide Puzzle

Slide Puzzle

Put 1 to 15 back in order. Fewest moves wins.

Today's board

How to play

Slide the numbered tiles until they read in order from the top left, with the empty space in the bottom right corner.

Tap any tile in the same row or column as the empty space. Every tile between them slides one step toward the gap. That whole slide counts as one move.

Each board is shuffled by random legal moves from the solved state, so it can always be solved. Your record is the number of moves. Fewer is better.

Controls
KeyboardArrow keys or WASD slide the tile next to the gap.
TouchTap a tile in line with the gap, or swipe.
MouseClick a tile in line with the gap, or drag.

Daily challenge: tap Today's board to play the one board everyone gets today.

Finish a game and your score link lets a friend play the exact same board.

Tips & strategy

  • Solve the top row, then the left column. Each finished row or column turns the puzzle into a smaller one.
  • The last two tiles of a row are the tricky part. Park the last tile under its spot first, then rotate the pair into place.
  • Tap a tile several cells from the gap: the whole line slides and counts as one move. Use it to save moves.
  • Don't touch finished rows. If you must, break them only for a short loop that you know returns them.
