5-Second Quiz: Korean Food
From tteokbokki to royal sinseollo — ten hansik questions, five seconds each.
10 questions · 5 seconds each · 3 easy, 4 medium, 3 hard
Faster right answers score more. Running out of time counts as wrong.
Bibimbap and tteokbokki are the warm-up. Then come the questions that separate eaters from cooks: what songpyeon is steamed on, which bean makes tangpyeongchae's jelly, what a '7-cheop' table counts, and which city lists budae-jjigae as its specialty.
Answers come from the National Institute of Korean Language dictionary, the Korea Tourism Organization's food guides, the Korea Heritage Service and UNESCO. Regional questions follow the tourism board's list of local specialties — where a dish is famous, not where it was invented.

How scoring works
A right answer is worth 1 point plus up to 0.5 for speed — the more of the 5 seconds you have left, the bigger the bonus. Wrong answers and timeouts score nothing. The total is scaled to 100.
Ten right answers at about 2.5 seconds each lands just above 80 — the top grade. Nine right needs real speed to get there.
“Top %” is an estimate, not a leaderboard. It models players of different skill answering easy, medium and hard questions (about 76%, 54% and 33% right overall) in 1 to 5 seconds, and shows the share who would score at least as high as you. No one's results are stored.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as the Korean Food Guide?
No — the guide explains 40 dishes at your own pace. This quiz tests what you know in five seconds a question, from street snacks to royal court food.
Why do some questions name a city?
Korea's tourism board keeps a list of regional specialties, like dakgalbi for Chuncheon. Those questions ask which place a dish is famous for, not where it was first made.
Where do the Korean food answers come from?
The National Institute of Korean Language dictionary, the Korea Tourism Organization, the Korea Heritage Service, the National Folk Museum and UNESCO. Each answer on your result links its source.
