5-Second Quiz: Korean Culture
Hangeul, holidays, palaces, the flag — how much of a Korea expert are you?
10 questions · 5 seconds each · 3 easy, 4 medium, 3 hard
Faster right answers score more. Running out of time counts as wrong.
Think you know Korea beyond kimchi and K-dramas? This one asks what Hangeul's letters were modelled on, when Dano falls, what ondol heats, which palace is a World Heritage Site on its own, and what the trigrams on the flag stand for.
Every answer was checked against Korea's own references — the National Institute of Korean Language dictionary, the laws on holidays, the Ministry of the Interior's pages on national symbols — and UNESCO. For an untimed warm-up, How Well Do You Know Korea? is the gentler start.

How scoring works
A right answer is worth 1 point plus up to 0.5 for speed — the more of the 5 seconds you have left, the bigger the bonus. Wrong answers and timeouts score nothing. The total is scaled to 100.
Ten right answers at about 2.5 seconds each lands just above 80 — the top grade. Nine right needs real speed to get there.
“Top %” is an estimate, not a leaderboard. It models players of different skill answering easy, medium and hard questions (about 76%, 54% and 33% right overall) in 1 to 5 seconds, and shows the share who would score at least as high as you. No one's results are stored.
Frequently asked questions
How is this different from How Well Do You Know Korea?
That one is ten fixed questions with no timer. This one draws 10 of 40, gives you five seconds each and scores speed too — the hard third reaches Joseon years and UNESCO listings.
Do I need to read Korean?
No. Every question and option is in English, with Korean words romanised where it matters. Knowing a little Hangeul only helps on a couple of questions.
Where do the Korean culture answers come from?
The National Institute of Korean Language, Korea's national law database, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and UNESCO. Your result links each source.
