Which Coffee Are You?

Coffee personality

Turkish Coffee

One cup, three hours, a dozen stories.

Turkish coffee is very finely ground coffee simmered in a small pot and served unfiltered, and as a personality it's the storyteller: slow, hospitable and the reason one coffee turns into an afternoon.

It's you if…

  • “Just one coffee” with you has never lasted less than two hours.
  • You remember everyone's family news and ask about it.
  • Guests at your place never leave hungry — or early.

The surprise

Turkish Coffees are excellent listeners. The best storyteller at the table is usually the one who heard everyone else's story first.

Behind the cup

Turkish coffee is ground to a fine powder, simmered with water — and sugar, if you like — in a small pot called a cezve, and poured with its foam and grounds into a small cup, usually with a glass of water. UNESCO added Turkish coffee culture and tradition to its list of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2013, describing it as a symbol of hospitality and friendship.
