What Color Is Your Personality?
Ultramarine, saffron or mauve? Seven scenes, one color with a true story.
Some colors were once worth more than gold; one was made from snails, one from insects, one by a teenager's lucky mistake. This quiz matches you to one of eight historic pigments and dyes through seven everyday scenes, then tells you the real story of your color.
The eight colors
- UltramarineDeep, rare, worth the wait.
- VermilionBold, bright, impossible to ignore.
- CarmineHidden in plain sight, full of surprises.
- Tyrian PurpleRare, loyal and quietly regal.
- OchreEarthy, ancient, always there.
- SaffronWarm, generous, a little goes a long way.
- VerdigrisPatient, wise, better with age.
- MauveCurious, inventive, a happy accident.
How does the color personality quiz decide?
Each scene has four answers; each answer gives two points to the color it fits best and one to a close neighbor. The color with the most points is yours, and a tie is settled by your answer string, so the same answers always give the same color.
The match between people and colors is our own playful writing. Research hasn't shown that a favorite color reveals personality, so this is not color psychology — what is real is each color's history: where it came from, who paid for it and how it changed the world.
