Which Dog Breed Are You?

Dog breed personality

Shiba Inu

Your affection is rare, and it's worth everything.

A Shiba Inu personality is independent and self-possessed: you choose your people carefully, keep your dignity and do things your own way — and the few who earn your loyalty have it for life.

It's you if…

  • You leave parties without saying goodbye and feel great about it.
  • Your “I'm fine” has fooled nobody, but you'll still say it.
  • You have opinions about baths, and they are strong.

The surprise

Shiba Inus are far more playful in private. The cool, composed one is the person doing the silliest dance when they think no one's watching.

What the breed was made for

The shiba inu is one of Japan's oldest breeds, used in mountain regions to flush birds and small game. It was declared a Natural Monument of Japan in December 1936, and after nearly dying out during and after the Second World War, it was rebuilt from the few dogs that survived.
